Analog - B.F.A. Exhibition
University of Iowa Graphic Design | Spring 2025 | Animation, Type Design, Collage, Silkscreen, Print Production
The culmination of my studies in Graphic Design at the University of Iowa resulted in a solo B.F.A. exhibition entirely of my own creation. The only guidelines were that I create one and ensure it remained on display for a full week. The show began as an experiment in typography, with a focus on analog processes and unconventional methods of creation. I was especially drawn to the idea of everyday objects and things that feel familiar taking on a new, refined presence through design.
I explored materials like salt, ribbon, paint, and embroidery to develop a set of typeface posters, hand-drew and cut letters from handmade paper using vintage woodblock type as a reference, and digitally manipulated a wide-array of vintage ephemera to incorporate throughout the show. The body of work is deeply influenced by found objects and all typefaces are traditionally used in letterpress printing.
